T-Shirt Fundraiser for the Relay for Life

My daughter will relay with me!

     

My daughter and I will be particpating in our local Relay for Life event on June 12-13, 2009.  We have joined a team through Jenna's softball organization, and our team name is Iowa SWAT Softball Family. 

I decided to hold another t-shirt fundraiser to:

     1) Celebrate my one-year anniversary of being a cancer survivor

     2) To raise funds for our relay team, which will benefit the American Cancer Society.

     3) Offer t-shirts that help raise breast cancer awareness.

June 5, 2009 - IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO ORDER!

I just placed a rush order for the shirts in Black & Pink to have on hand to sell at the Relay for Life event next Friday, June 12.  If you would still like to order a t-shirt:

1) Email me at dandting@mchsi.com to reserve which shirt(s) you would like (BLACK OR PINK ONLY, and the size)

Here are the current sizes available in Black and Pink as of the morning of June 5, 2009:

BLACK - Youth XS (1), Youth Small (1), Youth Medium (1), Youth Large (1), Adult Small (6), Adult Medium (11), Adult Large (14), Adult XL (8), Adult XXL (2)

3) Put the order form and payment in the mail to me ASAP.  As long as the payment reaches me by next Friday, June 12 - the shirt is yours!  Remaining shirts will be sold at the event.

Every penny above the cost of the t-shirts will go to the 2009 Relay for Life event, which benefits the American Cancer Society!

11-25-08 - Had my last chemo today! Woo hoo! Just a few weeks of side effects, and then it's all about getting my strength and energy back...and some hair. :) Thank you again to everyone for your support over these past 7+ months. You have been such a blessing to me and my family, and I will never forget it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas!!! ~Tara

Prayer Request: My sister Kris's breast cancer has spread to her liver and further into her bones. She has started back on chemotherapy. Your prayers for her would be appreciated as she continues her fight. She has been fighting for 13 years, since she was 30. She is the strongest woman I know. ~Tara

I encourage you to hold your own t-shirt fundraisers to raise funds for breast cancer research! For the t-shirts, I use CustomInk.com. They have a fabulous website where you can design your own shirts, and they offer free shipping. My orders with them have been somewhat complicated with so many different colors and sizes, but they have got the orders exactly right every time. And they have always been on time, or even early, when they ship them to me! If you do have a t-shirt fundraiser, please email me and tell me how it went. Pictures are welcome too! ~Tara

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April 2008. I have watched my sister suffer with this disease for 12+ years, and have a cousin who has recently gone through treatments as well. I just don't understand how one cell in the body can decide to go haywire and cause all kinds of problems! I want this cured so I don't have to worry about my daughter, my sisters, my niece, my friends...

This is my family - my heart and soul:

You can bet I will do everything in my power to be with them for a long time to come.

As I was sitting around waiting for surgery and my treatments to begin, I got an idea to help raise funds for Breast Cancer research. I thought "What if I design a t-shirt that friends and family can purchase, where the proceeds will go to benefit breast cancer research? And on that t-shirt could be a website address that people could visit that would show them how to have their own t-shirt fundraiser? And it could build from there, with all proceeds going towards breast cancer research!" So that is what I did.


My family, friends, and their friends came through and purchased 271 t-shirts, which raised about $3,000! You can see a list of all of the supporters here. I picked the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization to be the recipient of this fundraising. The founder, Nancy G. Brinker, promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. I want to help her keep that promise! You can read the story of Susan G. Komen here.
